Lace Industry

The Southern part of Sri Lanka is well-known for lace industry since centuries. There are various types of lace are found in here such like Cloths, blouses, curtains, pillow covers and many decorative things made of lace. Accordance to the history this amazing weaving technique introduced by Portuguese and Dutch at the age of 16^th or 17^th Centuries. The lace industry comes with generation to generation. One generation teaches the hidden and secret techniques to other generation. It is truly tremendous and amazing industry to observe. In Weligama area found many handmade lace shops and able to visit and grab more tremendous and interesting stories or experience about this amazing handmade industry. There is a special way of weaving the lace and this tremendous industry is facing a lack of work force. But that is made one of the remarkable industry.
