Veheragalla Ancient Temple

Another ancient temple which located very close to Mirissa. The temple is very special because it is one of the very few places found low country art style. It is different rather than Kandian style. The best example to observe low country art and architectural style as well. According to archeological facts, this temple was started on 18^th or 19^th centuries which represent low country murals. It has low country identification in every way. The image house fully covered in various types of Buddhist sculptures and paintings. All things were painted with 100% natural paintings and express the feelings and expressions in a tremendous way. Also, there are no clear archeological facts remaining in this temple. The great place to observe the Matara style murals and paintings that totally different from Kandian era. Most of the murals made by clay with mixed many natural preservatives. It is something never missed observing.
